1 / 4Southorn Playground
📍 Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island
Free public sports facility in central Wan Chai on Hennessy Road with multiple basketball courts, football and soccer fields, and seating for spectators. Open to drop-in play and hosts local competitive basketball tournaments.
One of the coolest outdoor street basketball courts I have seen!! I visited on a Sunday and everyone was out and about playing with friends and in tournaments. Great spot to be
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with sports-confident children aged 8 and up who want to play alongside local Hong Kong players rather than in a controlled environment. The welcoming pickup game culture makes this genuinely accessible for visitors. Younger children and toddlers have no dedicated play space here — it is a sports facility, not a playground.

“Southorn Playground in Hong Kong is a lively, open space perfect for football and basketball. Plenty of seating to watch or rest. It's rare to find such a vibrant sports spot in the heart of a city, especially at night. Loved playing with locals- great vibe and energy. Wish I'd come more often. A memorable and fun experience!”

“Visited Southorn Playground this evening and had a great time! The vibe on Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, is always lively, and the playground is a nice urban oasis. It’s well-maintained with plenty of space for sports, casual walks, or just chilling. The basketball courts were busy, and the greenery added a refreshing touch. Perfect spot for locals and visitors to soak in some community energy. Only downside: it can get crowded in the evenings. Highly recommend for a quick stop in Wan Chai!”

“Fantastic local free facilities, basketball courts are well kept and very safe, locals are welcoming anyone to shoot around or join a game. I’ve been everyday this week and loving it.”
