This place was some of the most fun we had in Hong Kong! The museum was massive with a great mix of displays, interactive areas, play areas and brain games. Our son was very impressed with entire set up and asks to go back often. I highly recommend for any families traveling to this area.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for children aged 3 to 12 who engage through doing rather than reading. The fully interactive format means children direct their own experience across hours of content. Adults with a science interest will find plenty to engage with.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Confirm the marble run demonstration is running before your visit — it has been closed for extended maintenance periods
Allow a full day — most families underestimate the volume of exhibits across all floors
🎟️Check the live science show schedule at the information desk on arrival
🚗Start on the lower floors with the dinosaur exhibit and work upward to the top-floor play area

Great museum for kids and adults! We loved the mirrors section, the electricity exhibition is also super! The kids played around with the huge verity of interactive exhibits and loved it. We also loved the science live show which was a pleasant surprise for us. At the top floor there’s a play area with cool science related games! We liked it so much that we visited here 2 times during our 6 day trip to Hong Kong. Worth mentioning that there were many school trips to the museum on both our visits, and it does make it crowded…

Great place to bring kids! We thought we were only going to be hear a few hours based on our chatgpt itinerary, but there was so much to do that the kids spent all day there. Kids loved how the whole place was interactive. A few highlights were their giant marble run show (not sure why it isn't always running), workout tracking/racing, and build your own marble run (track with ball). It was also great value as it was only 60 HKD for 2 adults, 2 seniors, and 2 children to enter. If you are in HK with kids this is a great place to visit!

Even though the museum is primarily designed for kids, we really enjoyed exploring it. The lower level featured a fascinating dinosaur exhibit that was both informative and engaging, along with other interesting displays such as Mirror, which we found particularly captivating. The 3D models of the T-Rex were incredibly lifelike it was truly time well spent!

Overview

Hong Kong Science Museum spans multiple floors of interactive exhibits that children can operate directly — not just observe. Highlights include a giant marble run demonstration, a full electricity exhibition, an immersive mirrors section, and a ground-floor dinosaur exhibit with 3D models. Live science shows run throughout the day and frequently surprise visitors who don't expect them. A dedicated play area on the top floor suits younger children.
