The exhibition presented the history of Hong Kong railway development. The most interesting exhibits were those retired train compartments and uniforms. There was a souvenir when you leave and handed back the visitor badge, which is an old style MTR ticket. The exhibition required a booking (free of charge) on their website but it was quite easy to make. Worth a visit.

๐Ÿ† Family Action Verdict

Best for children aged 4โ€“12 with an interest in trains, and for parents who grew up with Hong Kong's MTR and want to share that nostalgia. The ability to board real retired carriages is the defining experience โ€” this is not a replica. Booking discipline is essential: weekend slots require a midnight reservation attempt exactly 30 days out.

โ„น๏ธ What to Know Before You Go

๐Ÿ’กSecure weekend reservations at midnight exactly 30 days in advance โ€” slots fill within minutes of opening
โฐWeekday slots are significantly easier to book and deliver the same full experience
๐ŸŽŸ๏ธChildren can try on vintage MTR uniforms for photos โ€” a popular element for families, so arrive with time to spare before your slot

โ€œTook me right back to my childhood. I did not expect to be able to actually go onto the old trains. I felt like a child again. Staff were very friendly too, with detailed explanations of the exhibits. Very interesting and nostalgic exhibition. I certainly enjoyed the exhibition way more than I have ever anticipated. Brilliant work. Thank you MTR!โ€

โ€œReservation is required in order to visit this place. Reserving a place for the weekend is rather difficult. I had to visit the website at 12 AM to secure a spot one month in advance. Plenty of information about the MTR history and showcasing two restored trains where visitors are allowed to hop in, take photos and physically experience what it is like to be in the trains from decades ago. The place is a bit small but overall enjoyable experience with 2 kids.โ€
