1 / 5Hong Kong Police Museum
📍 The Peak, Hong Kong Island
Housed in the former Wan Chai Gap Police Station on Coombe Road, this free museum covers Hong Kong policing history through VR experiences, historical uniforms, a recreated 1960s reception desk, and dedicated galleries on triads and serious crimes.
It is an interesting place! There are two halls for heroine and the Triad respectively and photography in the two halls are prohibited...when I was in the halls personnel stood at the door to monitor.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for curious children aged 7 and up with an interest in history or crime investigation — the VR element and recreated 1960s reception hold attention well. Plan for around 30–45 minutes. Not suited to toddlers given the stairs and exhibit-focused format. Pairs well with a Peak area hike as a cool, air-conditioned stop.

“Its a small museum so dont expect to be there for long. There's also lots of stairs to enter the building and you'll need to book online. I enjoyed this as they talked about the history of HK police.”

“If you are already hiking around the area, this would be a nice rest stop with great air conditioning”

“The Hong Kong Police Museum is located on Coombe Road in the Wan Chai Gap area of the Peak. This is a focused speciality museum, which suitably makes use of the old Wan Chai Gap Police Station. Entrance is free to the public. The museum is curated pretty well, display items are a nice range and include English text for explanation. The galleries cover the storied history of the Hong Kong Police Force well and provide a good half an hour of learning opportunity for those with interest.”

Overview
Set inside the restored Wan Chai Gap Police Station, this specialist museum traces Hong Kong law enforcement history chronologically. Highlights include a recreated 1960s police station reception, interactive VR police experiences, historical uniform and equipment displays, and short crime-solving films. Two restricted galleries — covering heroin trafficking and triad societies — prohibit photography and are monitored by staff.
