1 / 5Edward Youde Aviary
๐ Central, Hong Kong Island
An immersive bird sanctuary in Hong Kong Park where families can walk through elevated walkways observing colorful parrots, peacocks and exotic species up close.
The Aviary in Hong Kong Park is a wonderful place and captive ecosystem. The aviary is compact but still a good size and immaculately maintained and presented. The birds inside appear very happy and healthy and it was fantastic to be able to get up close with some of them. There is plenty of information dotted around the aviary offering a great understanding into the wildlife and their natural habitats. Cleaners are constantly patrolling the elevated walkways ensuring visitors hands are kept clean from the random bird droppingsโฆ!! This is a great place to visit and absorb yourself into nature for a while.
๐ Family Action Verdict
A delightful free attraction that combines education with nature experience, perfect for families wanting to escape the city bustle while kids learn about wildlife.

โAs stranger as it is to say, one of my favorite things that I did in Hong Kong was visit this aviary! Itโs kind of an unknown gem or at least not one frequented and was an absolute joy to visit. It was out of the the ordinary in terms of tourist traps, but it was still very fun and relaxing to visit. The variety of birds was quite impressive. So if you are a bird lover, I highly recommend this aviary.โ

โThe Edward Youde Aviary, located within Hong Kong Park, is a fascinating oasis right in the heart of the city. Itโs conveniently accessible, though thereโs a short uphill walk if youโre coming from Pacific Place mall. Once inside, the aviary feels worlds away from the surrounding skyscrapers. The range of bird species is impressive โ from small, colorful birds flying freely above the elevated walkways to parrots and elegant peacocks that wander the grounds. The larger birds usually stay closer to the forest floor, so visitors often need to look down from the sky bridge to spot them, which adds to the immersive, multi-level experience. In addition to the open aviary, there is also a dedicated caged display area featuring hornbills and striking crowned pigeons, giving visitors an up-close look at these unique and charismatic species. At times, staff members will share information about the birds, usually in Cantonese, adding an educational and personal touch to the visit. Overall, the Edward Youde Aviary is a relaxing and enriching escape โ perfect for nature lovers and anyone looking for a peaceful break in the middle of the city.โ
