1 / 4Chai Wan Swimming Pool
📍 Chai Wan, Hong Kong Island
Large multi-pool outdoor complex in Chai Wan on Hong Kong Island with training and leisure pools, sea views, sun lounger chairs, and a heated winter pool — accessed via a short uphill staircase climb.
Super big swimming pool complex, with many pools to choose from. It's not as accessible as other swimming pools, you have to hike up some stairs. Also the pools are all outdoors and unshaded so there are few visitors there. But since there's less people and many swimming pools, you get alot more space to swim in, which is awesome and well worth the small hike up the stairs.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for sun-tolerant families with children aged 5 and above who want uncrowded outdoor swimming with sea views on Hong Kong Island. The staircase approach rules out prams and limits accessibility for toddlers with sparse walking stamina. A strong summer morning choice — arrive before midday heat peaks and secure a sun lounger.

“It has a few outdoor swimming pools in an open environment. It is the best for sunshine lovers, but again, it is subject to weather conditions.”

Overview
Chai Wan Swimming Pool trades accessibility for space and sea views. The hillside location — reached via a short uphill staircase — deters enough visitors to keep the complex noticeably quieter than central Hong Kong Island pools. Multiple pools serve different purposes: training lanes, leisure pools, and a heated pool that operates through winter as the sole open facility in the district during cold months. All pools are fully outdoors and unshaded — sun protection is essential.
