Good place for understanding more about the impact of climate change

๐Ÿ† Family Action Verdict

Best for primary and secondary school-age children with a science or environmental interest. The interactive computer stations and replica cores hold attention for 30 to 45 minutes. Toddlers and children under 7 will find sparse hands-on engagement. School groups are the primary audience the programming is designed for.

โ„น๏ธ What to Know Before You Go

๐Ÿ’กPlan for a 30 to 45 minute visit โ€” the museum is compact and best combined with a wider CUHK campus walk
โฐCheck opening days before visiting โ€” the museum is closed on specific days of the week
๐ŸŽŸ๏ธCombine with other CUHK campus attractions to make the journey from Sha Tin MTR worthwhile

โ€œThe first of its kind in the world, the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change (MoCC) offers an interactive and multimedia exhibition showcasing valuable collections and information about climate change. It is an ideal venue for the public, especially students and teachers, to champion the cause of environmental stewardship and keep themselves abreast of the latest developments on environmental conservation and sustainability. Extended activities of the MoCC exhibition include eco tour that guide visitors around the prime ecological sites and green facilities on the vast CUHK campus, and a variety of workshops and activities that promote green living. The MoCC is within 3-minute walking distance from the University MTR Station. Green building principles are adopted as one of the important architectural concepts in aspects such as introduction of day lighting, and solar shading devices, as well as energy conservation and renewable energy usage. Admission is free. All are welcome. โ€œsmall museum, interesting and interactive displays on climate change. was nice to see a replica sediment and โ€œiceโ€ core. I thought it wouldโ€™ve been more on the impact of climate change on Hong Kong, but the museum is more focused on the history of climate change research and discovery rather than a proper call to action. photo corner with the SDGs was pretty fun. overall, an interesting experience but definitely wonโ€™t be spending more than 30 min here.โ€
