📍 Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon
Four-screen independent cinema in Yau Ma Tei showing mainstream and international arthouse films. Shares premises with Kubrick bookstore and café, plus film poster, vinyl, and DVD sellers.
As a film enthusiast, I absolutely love this place! More than a cinema, it houses Kubrick Cafe and sellers of film posters, vinyls, and dvds. Staff are nice. I think I found a home in HK.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 8 and up who enjoy films beyond mainstream multiplex programming. The Kubrick café and bookstore give parents and older children a full cultural visit that extends naturally before or after any screening. Families seeking standard blockbuster programming will find it covered alongside the arthouse selection.

“Amazing indie cinema, with a lovely café, store and videoclub. The only negative point is that the staff at the ticket office wasn't particularly friendly when we visited, and in addition the AC in the movie room was really too cold (seemed like we were in a fridge).”

“A small gem cinema inside hospitable community. You can watch indie movies here. With a Broadway Cinematheque membership you can have discount in the bookstore next to the cinema as well.”

“This was one of my favorite experiences in Hong Kong. I solo visited when it was super hot outside, so I thought a movie would be a great way to spend the hottest part of the day. I had lunch inside the magical connected bookstore- I ordered a salad and a glass of wine and it was perfect. I went and saw the movie (a British coming-of-age film called How to Have Sex) and then continued to explore the bookstore! They have such a great selection of books, gifts, souvenirs, and art. I put a coin into a vending machine and ended up with one of my favorite souvenirs of the trip- a little book of illustrations by an artist. I was so enchanted by the whole place! Loved it. Would love to come back.”

Overview
Broadway Cinematheque runs four screens in Yau Ma Tei with programming that spans commercial releases and curated international cinema. The venue integrates Kubrick bookstore and café directly into the space, along with vendors selling film posters, vinyls, and DVDs — making it a genuine cultural destination rather than a standalone cinema. Seating is comfortable and sound quality is strong. The air conditioning runs cold — notably so in the screening rooms.
