1 / 4Argyle Street Playground
⚠ Temporarily Closed📍 Ma Tau Wai, Kowloon
Outdoor playground in Ma Tau Wai with children's equipment, a football court, and shaded chess areas. Free entry. Steps from MTR and bus stops. Set in a busy traffic corridor.
Now, the child play area is closed but the astrophere is good. Reading under the trees, playing lactose in the football court and playing chess under the shade. It's full of childhood memories. Good place for all ages.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families already in the Ma Tau Wai area who want a free, easily accessible outdoor stop. The football court suits school-aged kids, and the chess corner appeals to older family members. Families seeking a quiet green escape will find the traffic noise and urban setting less appealing.

“It has been said here this playground was used as a starting point for one of the recent protest marches that have been happening in Hong Kong. Nevertheless, it is situated at a crossroads which is heavily traffic by bus routes and they are regular congestions in the area. But those would not mind the noise may enjoy the facilities in the area.”

Overview
Argyle Street Playground delivers a mix of facilities across age groups: children's play equipment, a football court, and shaded chess tables used regularly by older residents. The location is ultra-convenient — MTR and multiple bus routes are within a short walk. The playground sits at a busy crossroads with heavy bus traffic, so road noise is constant. Reviewers with long personal history here describe it as a nostalgic neighbourhood fixture.
