1 / 4Kowloon Walled City Park
๐ Kowloon City, Kowloon
Free public park in Kowloon City built on the former Walled City site, featuring traditional Chinese gardens, a children's playground, and a free historical exhibition with sessions every 20 minutes.
I think the park itself is quite beautiful and very clean. I particularly liked the the free exhibition which gave more info on the history of the city. I highly recommend for people visiting Hong Kong.
๐ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 7 and up who can engage with the historical context of the site. The Almshouse exhibition adds structured educational content that elevates the visit beyond a standard park trip. Younger children enjoy the playground and open garden space.

โKowloon Walled City Park is a surprisingly peaceful and beautiful spot tucked into one of Hong Kongโs busiest districts. What makes it special is the contrast between its calm, landscaped gardens and the intense history of the site, once home to the densely packed Kowloon Walled City, notorious for its maze like alleys and packed buildings. The park itself is very well maintained, with traditional Chinese garden design, winding paths, ponds, and pavilions that make it pleasant to walk through.โ

โThe park itself is good for relaxation, but if you want something really fun to do, explore the movie exhibition inside the Alms house, the ticket is free and there are sessions every 20 minutes or so. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in the history and culture of Hong Kong.โ

โInteresting historical site commemorating the densest settlement in human history, which was dismantled and replaced with this park in the 1990s. The exhibit is very small, but informative and includes a recreation of how the inside of the city might have looked. I wish the exhibit was larger, but it was still cool to see. Thereโs no cost to see the exhibit but they do have docents handing out and the collecting tickets at the entrance. The park itself is pretty run-of-the-mill and some of the ponds were dry but green space is important!โ

The free historical exhibition inside the Almshouse runs sessions approximately every 20 minutes, featuring a recreation of what daily life looked like inside the densely packed former settlement. A children's playground sits within the park grounds.
