1 / 5CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile)
๐ Tsuen Wan, New Territories
CHAT showcases Hong Kong's textile heritage through engaging exhibitions and hands-on activities that kids can enjoy alongside parents.
Besides the permanent exhibition showcasing the spinning factory that used to occupy part of the old cotton mill, thereโs also a rotating exhibit. I saw Gulnur Mukazhanova: Dowry of the Soul and it was beautifully poignant, making me consider the labour and a piece of the creator that goes into each piece of garment.
๐ Family Action Verdict
Perfect for curious kids who enjoy hands-on learning about history and creating their own textile designs.

โA spacious exhibition hall with interactive device, for the Illumin-Loom device, you are able to create your own design and even turn it into physical forms. The staff are polite and will provide guidance during visit. Great place for all-ages.โ

โGreat exhibitions on textile art and history. As a fashion design student, Iโve been here a few times and all these exhibitions and curations have never failed to amaze. Really nice place to learn about the history of the textile industry of Hong Kong and appreciate art. The images are from their exhibition on textile artist Gulnur Mukazhanova, which is held until 1/3/2026โ
